The Massachusetts Historical Commission (MHC) operates within the Secretary of State’s office to provide regulatory, archival and public information support for Massachusetts’ historic and archaeological resources. A series of data collection projects over many years have computerized detailed information previously only available by visiting the State Archives Building in Dorchester.
The Boston Private Industry Council engages in a broad range of activities of interest to the workforce development community including researchers, policymakers, labor and community groups and the media. These activities include research, program evaluations and policy development. But Boston PIC also provides or oversees direct services. It sets up workplace learning experiences for high school students and recent graduates through a staff of career specialists, employer organizers, and program coordinators and it actively recruits employers to participate in these programs.
Health and Disabilities Working Group (HDWG) is a research, technical assistance and training program of the Boston University School of Public Health that addresses the health care needs of critically-challenged populations. HDWG oversees three major projects: Catalyst Center, the Evaluation Center for HIV and Oral Health (ECHO) and the Peer Education and Evaluation Resource Center (PEER Center).
ONEMasssachusetts is a recently launched project of the Public Policy Institute. It is “a network in formation of people and organizations sharing a common vision: to rebuild public confidence in our capacity to work together, through our government, to expand economic opportunity and improve the quality of life in Massachusetts.” This advocacy initiative focuses on supporting community activists with information on timely budget and tax policy issues and training them to participate in the public debate.
